Hallo Claudia,
@all:
1.) Was tut Jane Bean, die australische Touristin?
I have just arrived back home ........ I have sent an group email out to all my contacts here to ask them to donate which some of them have agreed to do.
........... In the first 2 weeks after the accident when the story was not known, I visited the Angka and Cgunta in Grootfontein hospital every day to keep them company, to feed them, to make sure they drank and to persuade the nurses and cotters to do the best for them. This also involved buying food, drink, clothes and medical supplies and supporting Berthus to visit Cgunta in hospital after Angka died at the end of week 2, then on Sept. 9th the Van Zyls became involved. Together we had the hospital move Cgunta to WHK state hospital. For the first week of week 3 after the accident, in WHK I was again the only person who visited for all the same reasons..........
So you see, I have never been a sponsor but I am happy to give interviews of which there are now many to raise the plight of Cgunta. There is an article out now in You magazine South Africa that you might want to add to your website Gemma; its an interview Cgunta and I did in the hospital the day before I flew back to Australia and it has a neat short video that might be good for fund raising.
Dear ......
Thank you very much for your enquiery. It is highly appreciated. Thank you also for all your trouble to try and help these people.
..............
His wife (gemeint ist Cgunto) is receiving TB treatment at the Mangettie Dune Health Clinic in the Tsumkwe area – about 100km from Nhoma. She still has to receive treatment for about two months according to the doctor there. Then she will join the three widows of the men who died.
They are staying at Nhoma at the moment. Some institutions/organisations have contacted us offering help for them for a few months into the future. The situation there is that the community is connected to the ........ When there are tourists visiting, the community decides which men will accompany the tourists into the bush to teach them about their traditional food, medicines and hunting. Thus, after the death of their husbands, these three ladies do not have any other way of income for their families.
At the moment we are not organising a fundraising, but people who have contacted us to donate funds for the widows, are depositing into an account which is run by us. Full report back as requested by donors will be provided. I, Hendrik, is the pastor for the Dutch Reformed Church in Tsumkwe, although staying in Grootfontein after a period of 10 years in Tsumkwe. Nhoma’s people know us and we have visited them actually this morning to deliver a donation of food for the widows.
.........
Kind regards
Friday 12th October 2012
We have heard that the first set of skin grafts Cgunta received were a success. He has now received a second round of skin grafts and 40% of the damaged skin has been covered. As the latest skin grafts were on his back he is finding it painful to lie in any other position than on his stomach. He is in pain, but remains brave and positive.
Danke.
Liebe Grüße
Gerd
