Hallo Lisa,
Würdet ihr eher über C19 + C14 (Maltahöhe) fahren oder B1 + D1290 (Klein Aub) + D1274 fahren?
Klein Aub vorgestern siehst Du einiges Posts zurück (Posting #518793).

Update fb-Seite Camp Syncro
Gruß Gina

Camp Syncro

+++ UPDATE - CAMP SYNCRO +++
-> feel free to share <-

CAMP SYNCRO:
- after the floods Camp Syncro is fully operational.
- the business of Camp Syncro is still available for sale! in case you are interested contact us for more information

ROADS:
- All access roads (D3707, D3703) leading to Camp Syncro are drivable. However, they are slower than usual.
- The van Zyl's Pass is open again. Please take extra caution when driving it!
- The RedDrum Pass was not affected by the flood/rain and is still as steep and rocky and narrow as it used to be.

RIVERS:
Kunene River - water level is down again. It is still higher than last year in May but no need for any concern.
Hoarusib/Khumib - rivers are ok to cross on designated roads. However, we cannot guarantee that there are no muddy patches when driving in the riverbeds.

MOSQUITOES:
Currently, there are mosquitoes in the area. But since we are no medical experts, we do not give advice concerning malaria and malaria medicine! We recommend you to consult with your specialist/GP!

GENERAL INFORMATION:
We highly recommend people travelling in the NorthWest of the Kaokoveld to carry a satellite-phone for emergencies.
There is NO cellphone reception in the NorthWest (only exceptions are Puros and Opuwo).
Please be advised to carry enough water!
Even if it is not the hottest time of the year, temperatures can be very high and shade is sparse.
If a car has a break-down one can easily wait several days until another vehicle drives by..! (Note: we do not offer recovery service)
Additionally, we recommend using not only a map but also a GPS; sometimes, the various tracks are very confusing and one can get lost easily...
Of course 4x4 driving experience and proper equipment are absolutely mandatory for travelling in this remote area.

Enjoy your trip to the NorthWest!

Aktuell zum Thema "Straßenzustände in Namibia".
Quelle: Informanté, FB
Flash floods lead to road closures Niel Terblanche THE main roads between several towns in Namibia were temporarily closed for traffic on Friday evening as heavy rain flooded the infrastructure to such an extent that it became unsafe to use. Two motor vehicle accidents on the main road between Outjo and Otjiwarongo on Friday evening saw the road being closed temporarily while water washed over it in what was described as a river. The gravel road between Aroab and Keetmanshoop was also temporarily closed as large parts of the road became flooded and unsafe to use by motorists. Between Gibeon and Asab the main road from Mariental to Keetmanshoop also became inundated with water flowing freely from one to the others side of the road for long distance. Desmond Andreas took to social media in an attempt to warn fellow motorists to take the necessary precautions. In the photographs he took the road surface was completely covered by flood water while the sun was setting. He was worried that the situation might lead to disaster once it became dark. Besides asking people to be cautious his advice was that police should close the road temporarily. The heavy rain is set to continue as the Namibia Meteorological Service in its weather forecast predicted partly cloudy and hot conditions in the west and the extreme northeast of the country. Partly cloudy and warm to hot conditions with widespread thundershowers can be expected in the Oshikoto, Otjozondjupa, Khomas and Hardap Regions. Coastal residents can expect partly cloudy and cool to warm weather with fog patches that will clear up as the morning progresses.

C14 route towards Solitaire and adjacent vicinity (as per contribution received): de-de.facebook.com/2...w9e1YRuE1g&__tn__=-R

Received a significant amount of rain yesterday with some muddy and slippery sections. Road conditions changed - road surface rough and uneven with pools of water at some drifts. Consider some drifts as water logged and muddy. Conditions will surely change with the sun shining so brightly again.

PLEASE adapt driving habits and behaviour according to road and weather conditions
