ZimParks is putting the finishing touches to its newly built self-catering tented facility in Mana Pools National Park and bookings are now open from the central booking office in Harare.

The new facility is in the same area as Gwaya Camp, just upstream from the parks’ lodges near the HQ at Nyamepi. The five units are situated in the woodland along the Zambezi River and look out over the floodplain towards the Zambian hills to the north.

Each unit consists of a large canvas tent built on a raised concrete and stone platform, with a small, shaded veranda at the front. The tents are fully furnished with two beds (a third can be added to two of the larger units) and a small sitting area. All bed linen is provided. A door at the back leads into an en-suite bathroom with shower, flushing toilet, basin and hot and cold running water.

Each unit has its own small kitchen block adjacent to the tent. It is well-ventilated and ‘baboon-proofed’, and is fully equipped with a gas stove, fridge/freezer and sink as well as kitchen utensils, crockery, cutlery etc. There is also barbecue stand in front of each unit. Electricity and hot water are supplied throughout the camp via solar systems and all units are serviced daily by ZimParks personnel.

The access road into the Gwaya camp area is to be gravelled so that the tented camp will be accessible during the rainy season.

Gruß Gina
