Accident: SA Express CRJ2 at Windhoek on Apr 17th 2010, landed without nose gear

A SA South African Express Airways Canadair CRJ-200, registration ZS-NMM performing flight XZ-1753/SA-1753 from Cape Town (South Africa) to Windhoek (Namibia), could not extend the nose gear while on approach to Windhoek. The crew was unable to lower the nose gear and needed to land with the nose gear up and came to a stop on the runway. No injuries occured.

The airport had to be closed for about 5 hours. As a result a number of flights had to divert or return to their point of origin including a South African Airways flight SA-76 from Johannesburg, which returned to Johannesburg and departed again in the evening with a total delay of 5 hours.
